SpN 12X11 spoilerless reaction

I liked it--I've liked the last few as well. Jensen got to have fun with his character tonight and I really enjoyed it. I couldn't help comparing it to some fanfic I've read on the same subject and you know, Show did a pretty good job with this very popular trope. They caught the laughs something like that can produce, but touched on the sadness, too. Show slid nicely from "Oh, Dean, you so silly!" to "Holy shit, stop making me cry!". They wrapped it up nicely too--thoughtful end lines. And then moved on the weirdest shit I've ever seen on SpN. Ya'll come back and tell me what you think of the very, very last shot. *koff* If your brain didn't go where mine went, than gosh darn it, I'm a pervert.

Poor Jensen - does he have any idea of what fandom will make of the bull-riding montage?

My Dad has dementia so this ep. hit home a little. Jensen played it very well.

Yeah--Jensen played it very well. The broader comic bits were good but those small moments were pretty intense for me.

Riding Larry....sure yer right. ;D

LOVED this ep!

When Dean lays back on that bull like surrender, my head turned to jelly.

How can such a manly man not be so aware of how freaking sexy he is. I just wished they'd pulled back a bit on the bull a few times. And wow, I've tried to ride one of those, Jensen rode it like it was Jared and he wasn't letting go, so fluid and graceful. He really is such a physical actor.

And yes, there was so much silly, goofy Dean, but then that scene in the bathroom was gutting. How many other actors could have pulled that off so convincingly? Just beautiful. And concerned, protective Sam was such a joy to see. Just a blockbuster episode, my fav to date.

I know!! My little eyes went all round....

I wondered if he really rde it--it looked like a hard thing to do, but he's really kind of graceful, in a manly mannish way. ;D

He was cute and adorable and goofy through most of the ep, but man, that scene...goosebumps! There was real horror at that moment.

That montage seemed so weird to me. Why? I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it. I'm just not sure of it's purpose except to fulfill our kinky little fantasies. Perhaps that is the direction the show is going in. Every week a new fangirl fantasy is played out. How awesome would that be!?! Next week Sam bakes cupcakes.

okay, yeah--it was kind of odd, but the lyrics made it a bit sad/creepy when you got past the woo-hoo of Dean riding the bull. I looked at it first like that Eye of the Tiger bit they did that one year, but it was definitely a fangirl fantasy. *shrug* I ain't mad at 'em.

Oh, i loved it. I just thought it was odd.

I really liked this episode. I especially liked that little chat between Rowena and Dean. I feel like her saying that he is a killer, but for the right reasons is going to come back at the end of the season.

Oh yeah, that was too heavy a line just to have been dropped like that. Which makes me think this is going to be bad. Plus, were they hitting on his drinking kind of hard too, or was that me?

It wasn't just you. No one has mentioned Dean's drinking for a long time. It doesn't seem like he's been drinking to excess since he got rid of the Mark of Cain.

It really was--he put his heart in to it and it was nice to see. Him playing Dean without worries, Dean losing himself. Both the boys were incredible!

This episode was definitely a thing of beauty. They did that THING SPN does so well where we're just like "OMG this is HILARIOUS, so much fun!" right up until the moment when suddenly it's NOT fun, it's AGONY, and EVERYTHING HURTS. :(

Granted, this ep was a little close to home for me. My dad was just diagnosed with Alzheimer's, so... yeah, the post-it notes left everywhere and the scene where Dean couldn't remember who he was, etc... just hurt. :(

That last sequence was a little weird, and was definitely a fangirl fantasy fulfillment moment - but I think it was more intended to be a poignant, sad reflection on how Dean's childhood was stolen from him and all he has now are little moments like riding that bull. :/ He finds his fun where he can because really, his entire life at this point is darkness and suffering. :(

Jensen did such a good job there that all I could think of was how painful that must be for people dealing with dementia, like tasabian and her father. It was a *good* SpN ep, the kind we signed on for.

I agree with you about the end--it seemed like just a fun moment for us, but the lyrics of the song made it really sad..
